What is our Buddy Program?
At St. Egbert Catholic School, we believe that every student should feel supported, included, and valued! One of the ways we nurture this sense of belonging is through our cherished Buddy Program, a tradition that pairs older students with younger ones to foster mentorship, friendship, and faith-based connection.
From the first day of school, younger students are often just beginning their journey at St. Egbert, are paired with upper-grade buddies who serve as role models and companions. These buddy relationships go beyond the classroom, extending into school Masses, special events, reading activities, and service projects. Whether it’s sharing a prayer, helping tie a shoe, or walking hand-in-hand to an assembly, the bonds that form are meaningful and lasting.
Through this program, older students develop leadership skills, empathy, and a sense of responsibility, while younger students gain confidence, trust, and a sense of security. It’s not uncommon to see buddies exchanging smiles in the hallway or supporting each other during school wide activities. In many ways, the Buddy Program reflects the spirit of community and faith that defines St. Egbert Catholic School.
