Why St. Egbert Catholic School Stands Out

Three times each year, our students participate in the i-Ready Diagnostic Assessment, a nationally recognized tool that measures growth and proficiency in both Reading and Mathematics and compares our school's results against state and national performance. This spring, 78 of our Kindergarten through 5th grade students were assessed, and the results are a true testament to the hard work of our students, the dedication of our teachers, and the commitment of our families.

Reading

A remarkable 77% of St. Egbert students scored at Mid or Above Grade Level in Reading. To put that in perspective, the North Carolina state average is just 35% and the national average is 33%. Our students are performing at more than twice the rate of their peers across the state and across the country. And it doesn't stop there; an additional 22% of our students scored Early On Grade Level, meaning a stunning 99% of St. Egbert students are performing at or approaching grade level in Reading. Only 1% of our students scored below grade level, compared to nearly 37% of students statewide. These results are extraordinary by any measure!

Mathematics

Mathematics In Mathematics, 51% of our students scored at Mid or Above Grade Level, compared to just 32% for NC and 29% nationally. St. Egbert students are performing 19 points above the state average and 22 points above the national average. An additional 33% scored Early On Grade Level, meaning 84% of our students are at or approaching grade level in Math, while statewide, nearly 4 in 10 students are performing below grade level. Our students are consistently beating both state and national benchmarks by a wide margin.

These results are more than numbers. They capture the kind of education St. Egbert Catholic School is committed to providing and reflect the direct outcome of a community that pours its heart into each child, every day. In our small classes, attentive teachers deliver strong academics grounded in values, setting high expectations while ensuring each student is known, challenged, and supported to grow. Adding to that, families who show up as engaged and committed partners at home, and a school culture rooted in faith and genuine care, and you have the St. Egbert difference.
